My Story
From a long-held dream to something truly my own
My name is Bhupinder Gill, although most people know me as B or Bhupi.
Lotus Jewellery by B is the beginning of a dream I have carried with me for many years — the dream of creating something that is truly my own.
After 25 years working in Human Resources, I reached a point in my life where I wanted to explore a different kind of creativity. I had always been drawn to the idea of having my own business, but it was through discovering jewellery making and silversmithing that I began to realise where my true passion could take me.
During this chapter of my life, living in beautiful Kent with my husband and our young son, I found the courage to turn that long-held idea into something real.
Lotus Jewellery by B is not simply a jewellery business. It is a reflection of my journey — my creativity, my values, my love of beautiful things and my belief that the pieces we wear can hold meaning.
My designs are intended to be elegant, timeless and beautifully simple — pieces to wear, love and cherish.
And this is only the beginning.
The Meaning Behind Lotus
The lotus flower has always felt like a powerful symbol of beauty, resilience and growth.
It grows from the mud, rises through the water and blooms above the surface.
For me, that represents something deeply meaningful: the ability to grow, evolve and find beauty through every stage of life.
That idea sits at the heart of Lotus Jewellery by B.
Every piece is created with the hope that it becomes more than something beautiful to wear. It might mark a special moment, celebrate a milestone, represent personal growth, or simply bring a little joy to someone's day.
Like the lotus, we too can rise, bloom and become something beautiful.
My Journey into Silversmithing
Learning the craft, one piece at a time
My journey into jewellery making is still being written. I am passionate about learning the traditional skills and techniques behind jewellery making and developing my confidence as an artisan.
From the very beginning, I have been fascinated by the process of taking an idea and turning it into something tangible — starting with inspiration and sketches before working with metal, texture, shape and gemstones.
My jewellery-making journey includes learning techniques such as sawing, forming, doming, soldering, texturing, granulation, stone setting, filing and polishing.
One of the things I love most about silversmithing is that it requires both creativity and patience. A piece rarely looks exactly as it did in the original sketch — it evolves as you work with the metal, and sometimes the most beautiful details come from that process of experimentation.
From Inspiration to Creation
-
01 — Inspiration
Ideas can come from nature, architecture, texture, colour, gemstones, memories and everyday moments.
-
02 — Design
The idea begins to take shape through sketches, experimentation and consideration of proportion, texture and wearability.
-
03 — Making
The design is brought to life using traditional jewellery-making techniques — metal is cut, shaped, formed and soldered.
-
04 — Detail
Texture, granulation, gemstones and other carefully considered details are added to give each piece its character.
-
05 — Finishing
The piece is filed, refined, polished and carefully inspected before it is ready to become part of someone's story.
-
06 — Your Story
The final stage belongs to you — a reminder of a person, a place, a milestone, a celebration or a moment that matters.
Our Values
-
Handmade with Heart
I believe jewellery should have a human connection behind it. Every piece should have a little bit of its maker in it.
-
Respecting the Planet
Where possible, I use recycled precious metals and more environmentally conscious practices, while continuing to learn about responsible sourcing.
-
Mastery in Detail
I am committed to continuously developing my technical skills. The goal isn't simply to make jewellery — it is to become better at the craft.
-
Timeless by Design
My ambition is to create elegant, beautifully simple pieces that can be worn today, treasured tomorrow and become part of someone's story.
Why Choose Handmade?
Because the little details matter.
When you choose handmade jewellery, you are choosing something created by a person rather than simply selected from a production line.
-
Craftsmanship
Time, patience and skill go into creating each piece.
-
Individuality
Small-batch and one-of-a-kind pieces can have their own character and personality.
-
Meaning
Jewellery can represent something personal — a memory, celebration, achievement or new chapter.
-
Connection
You aren't simply buying a piece of jewellery — you're supporting an independent maker and becoming part of their journey.
-
Thoughtful Design
Each Lotus piece is designed with consideration for beauty, wearability, longevity and the person who will wear it.
My Vision
Inspired by Beauty. Rooted in Joy.
Jewellery has always felt like a way of celebrating life's moments — the big milestones, the quiet achievements and the little joys in between.
My vision for Lotus Jewellery by B is to create simple, elegant and timeless jewellery by hand, using precious metals, gemstones and, in time, pearls and other beautiful materials.
I want every creation to bring a sense of beauty and joy to the person who wears it. But I also want Lotus to become about relationships, not simply transactions.
I hope to build a jewellery brand where customers trust the quality, appreciate the craftsmanship and feel connected to the story behind what they purchase.
Looking Ahead
A dream that continues to grow
Lotus Jewellery by B is at the beginning of its journey. Over the coming years, I want to continue developing my skills, expanding my portfolio and exploring new techniques, materials and design ideas.
I aspire to create collections that are:
Beautiful. Meaningful. Timeless. Personal. Made to be cherished.
More Than a Business
Lotus Jewellery by B is more than a business to me. It represents courage, creativity, learning and the decision to finally pursue a dream.
I am excited to see where this journey takes me — from learning the craft, to creating my first collections, to eventually developing bespoke and fine jewellery pieces that carry the Lotus name.
And I hope that, along the way, Lotus Jewellery by B becomes part of your story too.
Thank you for being part of my journey.
